Justin Porter Memorial Scholarship

The Justin Porter Memorial scholarship is offered in the memory of Justin Lionel Trevon Porter, a rising junior at Eastern Guilford High School in Gibsonville, NC whose life was cut tragically short in June 2020.

From a young age, Justin was an outgoing and energetic young man who loved his family and giving back. He volunteered his time and was involved in various activities in school and the community. He also had a passion for basketball and collecting sneakers; he was considered an official “Sneakerhead”.

Justin was blessed to grow up with a loving and caring family that extended beyond his parents. He was taught that what you are is God’s gift to you, but what you become is your gift to God. Justin loved God and desired to honor God with his life.

He leaves behind a legacy of promoting community engagement, service, and a commitment to educational opportunities for young scholars. This scholarship was established for minority males seeking an Associate Degree at Forsyth Tech.

Recognized for his abilities to bring about the best in others, Justin’s willingness to assist minority males will be memorialized through the recipient of this scholarship.

The recipient must submit a written one-page essay on the importance of giving back to the community. Consideration should be given to low socio-economic status students, as well as students who are underrepresented minorities.
