Wayne F. Vestal Forsyth Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship

The Wayne F. Vestal Forsyth Memorial Auxiliary Scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Wayne Franklin Vestal. Mr. Vestal passed away in July 2016, peacefully at his home from complications of heart disease. He was a graduate of Asheboro High School, Elon University, and UNC-Chapel Hill. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Third Division and 283rd Army Bands. He worked for 16 years in the Asheboro City Schools as a teacher and administrator. He served as Assistant Dean of Continuing Education at Guilford Technical Community College for 24 years and retired in 1995.

In Asheboro, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a life member and past president of the Asheboro Jaycees. He was a charter member of Pinewood Country Club. After moving to Winston-Salem in 1979, he became a member of the Wake Forest Deacon Club, Piedmont Civitan Club, Wilshire Senior Golf Association, and the North State Choral. He was also a member of Knollwood Baptist Church and a volunteer at Forsyth Medical Center for 21 years.

The Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Auxiliary is a special group of volunteers, who generate more than $150,000 annually through the gift shop, newborn photography and employee fundraisers. The Auxiliary then pledges donations to departments that request funding support for programs.

This scholarship is awarded to second year Health Technologies Division students who have at least a 2.0 GPA and are enrolled in at least six credit hours.
