Marshall B Bass Scholarship

The Marshall B Bass Scholarship was created by Marshall B Bass, president of Marshall B Bass & Associates – a management consulting firm. Bass retired as an elected senior vice president from RJR Nabisco in 1991. Having been one of 16 corporate-elected officers of RJR Nabisco, he served as corporate vice president in human resources. He was subsequently elected to senior vice president. In that capacity he was responsible for managing worldwide public and governmental affairs issues for the corporation. RJR Nabisco had operational facilities or marketed its products in over 123 countries around the globe.

In addition, Mr. Bass was vice chairman of the board of directors of Piedmont Federal Savings and Loan Association, chairman of the Association’s salary and compensation committee, and a member of the Association’s executive committee. He is former secretary of the public policy committee of the RJR Nabisco board of directors and he is a former board member of RJR Tobacco Company and RJR Nabisco Foundation, Inc. He is also a former member of the board of directors of NCNB National Bank and the Forsyth Tech Foundation.

This scholarship was established for a student who has completed at least one academic year and maintained a 2.5 GPA. Minority students will be given preference for this scholarship. All applicants must be citizens of the United States and Forsyth County, North Carolina. The recipient is considered a Marshall B Bass Scholar.
