Medlin Scholarship

The Medlin Fund Scholarship was created by the late John G. Medlin, former President and CEO of Wachovia Bank. Mr. Medlin, who grew up on a farm near Benson, NC, graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, and then served in the US Navy for several years. In 1959, Mr. Medlin joined Wachovia Bank and Trust Company. In 1994, he retired having served as President and CEO for 17 years, and continued to serve on the Wachovia board until 1998. He was named by American Banker as its most admired CEO for banking in 1991 and 1992, and received its lifetime achievement award in 2002. Before his death in 2012, he established this scholarship fund to provide income for financial assistance to one or more students who have been admitted to Forsyth Tech and who exhibit a financial need based on the qualifications established by Forsyth Tech.
